There was an attractive swimming pool area, which was a feature in the spacious garden but did not impinge on the outside seating areas of the rooms. Staff were excellent, friendly , helpful but not overbearing.

A cheery group of ladies serviced our room with enthusiasm and efficiency each day of our stay. Good quality fitments and furnishings and a very comfy bed. Laundry facilities good and two huge outside clothes dryers so plenty of room for all guests to use. A really enjoyable stay in a beautiful part of New Zealand. There was an option for pick-up from our accommodation so I took it, thinking it would be easier than driving to and from the beach. Big mistake. We got picked up over an hour late for the kayak trip and then found out there was no return drop-off to our accommodation once the kayaking was finished.
Had I known we were to spend the rest of the day on the beach until the full-day trips came in at pm and the bus went back to Motueka, I would have planned better for the day Short story - take your car! Definitely pick your own fresh fruit while in Motueka Head down Old Wharf Road to the end of the road where there's an old rusting ship stuck in the mud.
Someone has built a stepping stone pathway out to it so you can access it at low tide. Take lots of extra water though, because the kids seem to gravitate to the mud and it's really mucky to wash off! We stayed at The Happy Apply backpackers which is a 25min walk into town, otherwise there is lots of parking on Motueka. There are two supermarkets in town; New World and Countdown plus a few dairies and petrol stations.
The Janie Sneddon shipwreck is worth a visit, especially at dusk when you can get good photographs. Great location to stay if you want to explore the Able Tasman NP or visit the local wineries. Not a bad location for a trip up to Golden Bay but that Takaka Hill road is a killer! There is a fair variety of restaurants and eateries at a price to suit most pockets. The best beaches were at Kaiteriteri and Rabbit Island but with the latter you need to be prepared and take everything with you.
French bakery was incredible and fresh fruit ice cream.
Happy fish and chips- very pleasant but not great food. Yes, easy to get around The happy fish and chips. Was high season so traffic through Motueka was busy. Extremely new, with an unexpected attention to every detail.
Market information for the venders
The location is soooo much better than being in Motueka. We were literally two blocks from all the activities and a really good restaurant Hooked on Marahau. Linda and Grant are fabulous hosts, and lots of fun, with an excellent knowledge of activities and local beer. Warm, friendly and very helpful!
We hope to return again, but only if we can stay with them!! This is the place that you must must must check out if you are around Abel Tasman. We felt so relaxed at this cute container house after our camping trip. The sunrise view was gorgeous!
