Island Bay is very laid back with a sandy beach, a great arts community and a cool little village with important amenities such as supermarket, pharmacy, medical centre, bars, restaurants, cafes, as well as great to haves such as a cinema, art galleries, gift shop, book shop, etc which is 10mins walk from our house. There is a convenience store around the corner from our house 3mins walk , the beach is 5mins walk and the bus stop is 3mins walk. We now have three great little kids and a cheeky little dog mostly 'contained' in the house in case you are worried , so we don't travel as much anymore but always enjoy meeting and hosting visitors to Wellington. Children are welcome to stay, but we can unfortunately only add one cot or one stretcher bed to the room. We speak decent German and French but our Danish and Spanish are a bit rusty.
